Alright, so there's this guy that I have some history with got into this really stupid argument. The last thing he said was "Leave me alone, please." And we haven't talked for almost a month now. That's the longest we haven't spoken to each other. So, me being stubborn as I am, I'm obeying his wishes. But I'm starting to get really sad that we'll never speak again. He did once say "Regardless, I'm here for you." But it doesn't seem like that anymore. I don't know what I should do. Should I give up and leave him alone like he asked? Or suck up my pride and say something?

We have absolutely AMAZING thinkers like Stephen Hawking, Albert Einstein, Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, etc. and yet...there are so many people who have these primitive belief systems and completely dismiss the theories that our greatest thinkers work on for years and decades on end, researching and studying and testing and learning and proving and disproving and hypothesizing and learning more...and yet we have people who have barely scratched the surface of a science text book and claim their beliefs are either a) just as valid or b) the only right way....... I mean, I am just astonished that SO MANY people actually still believe this stuff. I'm sorry for the preaching, but man, oh man, it's just...something else. Absolutely. I tend to disagree with the logic all three use, even if I come to many of the same conclusions. There is a great deal of difference between looking for the truth and trying to demonstrate that God does not exist. All three of them start with the implicit premise that there is no God. That's where circular reasoning enters the picture. I try to argue from the evidence in both directions. I come to implausibilities much more quickly when God enters the picture, and I am thus an atheist.

Hello Frnds I am Sam.I sat for the TCS off campus drive this year.After clearing the online aptitude and interview I got the offer letter.As per the rules of TCS a candidate should have a minimum of 50% in all discipline.I have 50% in all discipline but there is a confusion.I failed in the physics paper in class 12 scoring 26% which I cleared in the following year scoring 49%.Now when I calculate my aggregate considering the failed mark(26%) my aggregate becomes 47% but if I consider the passed mark(49%) which got after clearing in the next year my aggregate becomes 50.6%.My question is while calculating my aggregate what will TCS take into account,my failed mark(26) or my pass mark(49)????waiting for your reply....Thanks in advance...

Hello Frnds I am Sam.I sat for the TCS off campus drive this year.After clearing the online aptitude and interview I got the offer letter.As per the rules of TCS a candidate should have a minimum of 50% in all discipline.I have 50% in all discipline but there is a confusion.I failed in the physics paper in class 12 scoring 26% which I cleared in the following year scoring 49%.Now when I calculate my aggregate considering the failed mark(26%) my aggregate becomes 47% but if I consider the passed mark(49%) which got after clearing in the next year my aggregate becomes 50.6%.My question is while calculating my aggregate what will TCS take into account,my failed mark(26) or my pass mark(49)????waiting for your reply....Thanks in advance.....

DID WE JUST GET STUCK WITH A POS?!?

My father is a very strict man and expects a great deal, academically, from my younger brother and myself. I am the eldest, and my brother is two years younger. I'm 19 and I'm very independent and value my freedom. My brother is still young and in some ways immature about certain things like employment and his independence. My father is especially strict on my brother and always criticizes him and the things he does wrong. He's treated with less respect than me and my baby brother. I want my dad to stop treating us unequally from each other, but he can be very stubborn and has extreme pride. I figure if I distance myself and my brother from him, he might seek to find an answer as to why we are acting the way we do. But I'm not too sure yet. Please help. Ive come to honestly hate the society we are currently living in. Where are the morals, sense of commitment, pride for hard work, family values?? We now live in a society where it is more exceptable to divorce your spouse over little issues than it is to work through them to solidify the sanctity of marriage. We live in a society where hard work counts for little and the biggest a** kisser gets the promotion. Its almost impossible to have a healthy, striving, comfortable home with only one adult working because everything costs so damn much yet the quality of everything has decreased. What did You Think of "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins?

Really interesting. When I first read it, I hardly paid any attention because I still considered myself catholic and always felt offended about everything against god (due to religious indoctrination as a child). Then I came around and read it again. The guy writes like a ponce sometimes but he's brilliant. He doesn't put a foot wrong when it comes to religion.

Hello - I have spent the best part of an hour research Vitamin A. The DRV for women is 2500 IU's of Vitamin A with at least 20% as beta carotene. I have looked on vitacost, iherb,puritan's pride, and drugstore.com - and all I see is 10000 IU's and 25000 IU's. Sorry this is long. I love him very much although hes annoying at times he's my best friend in a way and knows me/understands me better than anybody including my other best buds. It depends on how good the book really is and if your parents are actually publishers. If not, then you may need to wait because without real connections in the publishing business publishers will not listen to you. I made a trilogy and using connections my older cousin had I got it published. But he said it was a ton of work on his part, and my trilogy was also banned in the US. So it might not be totally worth the work.

It's a fair question. I'm guessing that Dawkins probably doesn't have enough background in philosophy to be able to hold his ground here. Ontological theism is very well developed no matter how one feels about it. Hitchens presumably doesn't mind debating Craig because he more comfortable with philosophy. I don't think Dr. Craig disputes the notion of evolution, so really I don't really see the point of having him debate a biologist.

there's no resistance so they spin.. usually the road and weight of the car provide enough resistance to keep to car from moving..If you jacked up the rear while the car was in drive..the wheels would spin

I agree on lots of these points. Overly flamboyant gay guys don't really annoy me but I feel as though I could understand why you feel annoyed. I think that a lot of people see them as more of a novelty, outrageous for the sake of outrageous, and not as real people. Also, many "more masculine gays" (maybe yourself?) resent the fact that they are stereotyped into that category just because they are gay. Me, I dislike the fact that a persona like that leaves little room for subtlety. I also am very upset with the approach that the community takes toward sex. From a scientific perspective, sex is the most important thing for any organism. However, the point of being human is elevating yourself away from other organisms. For a romantic like myself, this is a depressing situation. He is just one atheist who got tired of religious claims going unchallenged and decided to present another side of the issue. Mainly in his case due to being an evolutionary biologist and getting tired of hearing the creationists going on about it without any real rebuttal as to their religious claims. I was an atheist already before he published his book. There have always been atheists and while his book has been wonderful for people who thought that religion didn't really make sense but were swept up in it as they never got a chance to really hear or consider a different view it is not the main reason I think there are more atheists today. Its that religious claims in general are more susceptible to scrutiny and people have more access to information and other view points. If Richard Dawkins were to convert to theism or Christianity the majority of atheists would only be interested in why and the evidence he had to support that position. If it were something like being old or ill or some subjective feeling its unlikely it would be a very valid reason for switching to the majority of atheists and have little to no impact. Nor should it without good evidential basis for the switch.

Engine, Slip, and TCS Off lights are on?

It started with my engine light staying on. Now the Slip and TCS Off lights are staying on. Sometimes it is hard to start. It just turns over and over. My father is a very strict man and expects a great deal, academically, from my younger brother and myself. I am the eldest, and my brother is two years younger. I'm 19 and I'm very independent and value my freedom. My brother is still young and in some ways immature about certain things like employment and his independence. My father is especially strict on my brother and always criticizes him and the things he does wrong. He's treated with less respect than me and my baby brother. Well, I'm not a Christian, but speaking from experience, I've found nothing brings on a humbling twist of fate faster than bragging about something. Pride makes you do foolish things, gives you more confidence than is usually justified. And if you're proud, it usually doesn't take long before someone comes along whose is better at whatever you're proud of being able to do -- which leaves you feeling foolish sometimes. Nothing wrong with acknowledging a job well done, but staying humble is a good preventative against having to apologize later.
