Atheists, what do you think of changing our name to gain more acceptance in American society?

Given the fact that atheist is such a negative connotation in America should we change our identity and call ourselves skeptics or secular humanists? Should we change it--as Richard Dawkins has suggested--and call ourselves Brights? Or should we stick to atheist better? I am leaning toward atheist or secular humanist myself, but if there is any thoughts, contributions or comments you like to add then I am all ears.
